The University of Washington (UW) Department of Pathology, one of the leading academic Pathology Departments in the United States, seeks an assistant or associate professor to join its faculty at Harborview Medical Center (HMC), one of the two teaching hospitals at UW and site of the accredited cytopathology fellowship at UW.  Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and have proficiency in cytopathology, although board-certification or eligibility is preferred.  The successful candidate will share responsibility with 5 pathologists in the annual evaluation of approximately 5,000 surgical specimens, 28,000 gynecologic cytology specimens, 1,500 HPV diagnostics, 3,000 non-gynecologic cytology specimens, and 50 autopsies.  The successful candidate also will be an energetic partner in training of residents and medical students, and will develop an area of academic expertise.  HMC Pathology faculty currently are principal investigators or collaborators in many exciting research efforts at HMC and UW including molecular diagnostics, tumor biology, and infectious diseases.
