Repository Consents

Use of a Clinical Sample for Research

The Collagen Diagnostic Laboratory maintains a Repository of cultured cells, DNA, and clinical data from individuals with inherited connective tissue disorders (CTD).  Samples from the Repository are used to study genes and altered proteins that are responsible for these disorders, to identify new genes, and to understand how changes in these genes result in the clinical conditions.  Participating subjects are asked to allow storage of and research on their sample, and consent to the sharing of de-identified samples with outside researchers who are studying CTDs.

What is the CDL Repository Consent?

  • You are asked to give or deny permission to save and store the cells or DNA sent for laboratory testing to be used for research
  • You are asked to give or deny permission to be contacted by the lab in the future to update medical information or request additional information
