Clinical and Research Background

Dr. Dong’s clinical service includes general surgical pathology and hematopathology with a focus on bone marrow transplant pathology.

The focus of his past research was on the use of genetically altered mouse models to examine the role of leukocyte adhesion molecules in diseases (including cryptococcosis, atherosclerosis and obesity). Currently, he serves as a co-investigator in several NIH and VA grants, which include the study on role of inflammatory cytokine Oncostatin-M in promoting atherosclerosis and EWS-FLI1 fusion protein in Ewing’s sarcoma.
