The Student Biotech Expo is a unique science fair that engages high school students in creative ways to demonstrate their understanding of the life sciences, and that connects them to scientists and resources in the community.
Thanks to the over 200 volunteer advisors and judges from 50 organizations who make the Expo possible! We especially acknowledge the contributions of the NW Science Writers Association and all our Sponsors.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to Michelle Kriner (2nd place Expo Research Award Winner, 2006) for being named an Amgen Scholar for this summer at Stanford University!
Congratulations to Jolene Mork (Intel Science Search National Finalist, 2006, and Honorable Mention, Expo Research Award Winner, 2006/2005), who has been awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, the premier national scholarship for undergraduate math, science and engineering students. Jolene is an undergraduate at Carleton College, majoring in Biological Chemistry. Her career goals, which were shaped by her Expo experience at Amgen, are to conduct original research in biochemistry or immunology at either a university or a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company.
We are excited to announce that Expo teacher Mario Godoy-Gonzalez (Royal High School) has been named a finalist for the 2008 Genzyme-Invitrogen Biotech Educator Award. Congratulations, Mario! The award was established by the Biotechnology Institute to recognize leading high school educators who are bringing biotechnology to their classrooms and encouraging fellow science teachers to do the same.
The mission of the Student Biotech Expo is to promote an understanding of bioscience research among high school students. We provide access to scientific resources and engage students in new creative ways to demonstrate what they knowand are able to do within the disciplines of biotechnology and biomedicine. By connecting students, teachers, scientistsand the general public together, we strengthen our life sciences community.
