1st: Welcome New Residents! The new residents and fellows begin the 2005-2006 academic year on July 1. There are eight new residents - 5 AP/CP, 2 CP and 1 AP - and four new fellows. Please help them feel welcome as they get settled in to start this next exciting phase of their careers.

Payroll: Update W-4's Online!
You can now update your W-4 withholding allowances and view your JobProfile on Employee Self-Service (ESS). Located on the "Taxes" page in Employee Self-Service, employees can update their W-4 withholding allowances online. The update is immediate and will be reflected on the next paycheck. Links are provided with helpful information about withholding requirements.

A new page has been added to Employee Self-Service. Personalized for each employee, JobProfile provides information related to UW employment such as payroll job title, job class code, pay grade/range and step, and union bargaining unit. Check out your own JobProfile and spread the word! Log in to ESS to check out these new features.

Annual Pathology Retreat Deadline to register for the annual retreat is Monday, August 1st. All faculty, post-docs, residents, and grad students are invited to attend. Click here to register.
Congratulations to Dr. Tom Montine! Please join us in congratulating Dr. Tom Montine who was recently elected Vice President of the American Association of Neuropathologists. More information will be posted on our website when available.

Seattle Transit Tunnel Closure

Starting June 4th the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel will close on weekends so that the Sound Transit contractor can begin work on the tunnel retrofit for joint light rail and bus use. On September 24th the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel will completely close for up two years for construction. Sound Transit and Seattle Metro will provide the following service options during construction:

*New street-level bus routes once the tunnel closes
*Innovative commuting options, street improvements and improved bus stops

New HMC Pathology Employee: Please join me in welcoming Eriko De La Mare, who we hired PT in HMC Pathology on 6/6/05 as Program Assistant to eventually handle all phases of the HMC research recharge center. She comes to us with a number of years experience in the research field as program coordinator working at UW and is already quickly learning the ropes.

Residents and Fellows Graduate!
Once again residents, faculty and family from Pathology and Laboratory Medicine gathered on June 3 at the Faculty Club on upper campus to celebrate the completion of training for latest group of new alumni. It was a time of laughter and tears as the following graduates received their certificates and good wishes for a successful career in pathology.

The evening's celebration finished with its usual comedic finale by Dr. Geoff Baird (PGY2) presenting our own special modifications to the TNM classification system. It seemed to have a lot to do with exclamation points!

New Arrivals in Residency! Dr. Geoff Baird and his wife, Denise, welcomed Galen Callahan on May 17. He weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and measured 19 inches. Big brother Flynn is also very excited. Dr. Greg Wolgamot and his wife, Sara, welcomed their second daughter, Sonya Suzanne, on May 20. She weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and measured 20 inches. Big sis Elena is delighted to have a new playmate.
