Electron Microscopy Resource Center
| The Pathology Electron Microscopy Laboratory is a fee for service technical resource center serving researchers at the University of Washington and affiliates. The facility is fully equipped for the preparation and examination of biological material using most standard transmission and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The facility is staffed to provide technical assistance in the design and implementation of research protocols as proposed by the investigator. The preparatory lab includes technical services and specialized preparatory equipment such as ultramicrotomes, critical point dryer, sputter coater, vacuum evaporator, vibratome, etc. All technical assistance including specimen preparation and sectioning is provided on a "time and materials" cost basis at a rate of $51.00/hr for technician time. |
| Instruments available for ultrastructural examination include a high resolution transmission electron microscope (JEOL JEM 1200EXII) and two scanning electron microscopes (field emission JEOL JSM 6300F and JSM 35C). They are available for use by the investigators at a rate of $76 an hour (+ film cost). Investigators may also request pictures be taken by a technician (at session rate + technician time).
