Personal Statement:

Xuan (G) received his clinical medicine training in Xiang-Ya School of Medicine, Central South University. He joined Wake Forest University in 2008 to investigate cellular therapy to treat heart failure. For his PhD thesis, Dr. Guan worked on modeling cardiomyopathy of muscular dystrophy patients using induced pluripotent stem cells. Mentored by Dr. Michael Regnier and Dr. Charles Murry, he currently focuses on augmenting the functionality of stem cells derived cardiomyocytes to maximize the benefits of heart cellular therapy.
