Personal Statement:

Becky became interested in research as an undergraduate at Rice University, where she studied angiogenesis and designed healthcare tools for low resource settings. She switched focus to cardiac research when she began her graduate studies at UW, and is pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering co-advised by Dr. Chuck Murry and Dr. Mike Regnier. Her current research focuses on using genome engineering in human stem cells to model familial cardiomyopathies, and using multiscale biomechanical measurements to characterize diseased cardiomyocytes.
